October 1, 2024War Pigs on the March
Americans have not picked up on the sound of the march and the drumbeat towards war. Before the Iraq war, there was a drumbeat in the news that quietly crept along until it became a roar. The drumbeat to war is like a heartbeat that starts to beat faster and faster until the heart rolls out of rhythm endangering the body whole. The body politic as a whole is in great peril right now. What Black Sabbath called the “War Pigs” are centered on a pernicious goal and its war with Russia. The march to war is getting louder and louder, can you hear it?
There is close to a blackout when it comes to America’s news networks covering what is going on with Russia. We have heard faint voices in the political ether telling you that we are on the verge of a world war. Because Donald Trump has given voice to this evident truth, the leftist American media must act as though the old man is nuts and dismiss such an outrageous claim. The problem is that the old man is right in this regard. The Military Industrial Complex is poking the Russian Bear, and they will not stop until the bear does what bears do.
To understand just on the peripheral how this began we have to go back to the presidency of Bill Clinton. During the immediate period after the Cold War seemingly came to an end, there was an unthinkable period of peril for the entire world. A nuclear power had just collapsed, and those nuclear weapons were out there. If you were alive at that time, you’d remember all of the news reports of missing nuclear suitcase bombs that Russia could not account for after the collapse.
The existence of these weapons was confirmed by Dr. Alexie Yablokov, who claimed to have spoken with the people who made them. He also said that the devices were never listed in any inventory due to their sensitive nature. Yablokov claimed that the Soviet Union had 700 of these devices, which he called “nuclear mines”, and that they had been in existence since the 1970s. Yablokov said that the devices were used by the KGB and targeted the United States and NATO countries in eastern Europe. Former Russian national security advisor Alexander Lebed claimed that the Russian military lost track of over 100 of these weapons. The Russian head of state, Minister of Defense, and the head of the General Staff have had access to a “Nuclear briefcase” since it was first developed.
We had this scenario that somebody could drive to a big city and open a suitcase in the middle of the metropolitan era and vaporize everything in it. This was not just some idea for a Hollywood movie at the time, it was as real as Mount Rushmore. It wasn’t just the suitcases but the entire nuclear arsenal that was once under the umbrella of the Soviet Union that was now dispersed throughout all of the satellite countries that broke off from the motherland. Up until now, it was the most dangerous period humanity had ever faced.
Back then, the biggest and most powerful country that grabbed its independence and broke away from Moscow was Ukraine. This one country that became European in an instant, after the collapse, was at the time the most powerful country in all of Europe surpassing Germany with their weapons and their economy. After all, Ukraine is not called the breadbasket of the world for nothing; this was and is a very serious player amongst the civilized world. It was at this very moment in history that today’s drumbeat and march to world war began.
Enter President Bill Clinton. Say what you want about Bill, but he was not a successful president when it came to foreign affairs. Clinton was great domestically, but all you have to do is go back and look at the real genocide of Rwanda and see the destruction left behind by an out-of-his-league foreign affairs American President. Bill Clinton talked the Ukrainians into giving up their nuclear weapons and turned them over to Moscow in return Bill made a promise he could not keep. Clinton told them America would protect their country from attack. Whether he knew that was not true at the time or not matters not at all.
America told Russia that we would not bring NATO to the edge of their borders. We told the Russians that we would not move another inch of NATO towards them. From that promise to Ukraine and Russia to today’s calamity, we broke our word to both of them; we lied. The whole time since Clinton, we have expanded NATO to the edge of Russia’s door. Unlike when Saturday Night Live joked that Sarah Palin once said, “I can see Russia from my house”, putting that satire aside, when it comes to NATO now, it is not mockery to say not only can we see Russia from NATO’s front porch, but we can ring their doorbell.
To make you understand what we did is very easy. Imagine if Russia or China put military bases in Mexico, Cuba, and all over South and Central America. Well, how would that make you feel as an American? Would that make you feel safe? Or would that make you, as an American, feel threatened? Folks, that is exactly what we just did to Russia and the talk of Ukraine joining NATO in this last decade was a bridge too far for Russia and they attacked Ukraine. We did that; America caused that wholeheartedly.
Now if you mention any of this, the mouthpieces of the Military Industrial Complex will strike out at you. They will even call you a Russian asset, or spy, maybe a traitor to your country. Here’s the rub, it is true; America not only caused this, but we are right now, in real-time, telling Ukraine that we will lift the restrictions on them and allow them to take NATO’s long-range missiles and shoot them into mainland of Russia. Inauspiciously, and for reasons only the shadowy world of buying and selling weapons knows, we are unabashedly trying to start a world war with Russia.
The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, has just said publicly that if Ukraine uses NATO missiles, guided by NATO software, running off of NATO satellites in space to hit Russia, they will consider that they are now at war with NATO. Puttin has said firmly and publicly, that if America and NATO do this, we will feel the repercussions on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. Now ask yourself, does Russia not have every right to feel this way? Do you doubt Putin and his resolve? Would we feel the same in their shoes? If you just listen to it and stop worrying about eating cats and dogs and focus on the here and now in geopolitics, this is the ongoing drumbeat. This is all a prologue for the world war.
The heartbeat of war is racing and is telling the body (America) to handle this before the heart explodes. Stop poking the Russian Bear! Cut the shit out people and go read the new book, “Nuclear War: A Scenario” by Annie Jacobsen, which lays out the tick-tocking of the clock about how a Nuclear War would unfold. The book is a frightening reminder of how once something like Nuclear War starts there is no turning back. I believe we have an equivalent here, we must rein in the War Pigs; we must do that now.
