Nanny State: Social Media Warning Labels
The biggest threat to mankind is not nuclear self-destruction, terrorism, or even climate change. The biggest threat to mankind and freedom itself is the “Good Intentions Crowd.” You know the people who want you to change something about your life to protect you from you. Nothing does more damage than the “Good Intentions” mob. They simply feel that you are a danger to yourselves and that the freedom to choose will kill you in the long run. They don’t even believe in personal freedom. It is not in their genetic makeup. This crowd is full of the most Socialistic geared kind of people.
This ideology has been passed down to future generations in America since the 1930′s. It starts insidiously at first. They start with seat belts and helmets which gives the enslaved a perception of common sense they might have been lacking. We accepted those loss of freedoms with a smile and moved on, never realizing that these good intentions people were not finished with us. In fact, we accepted the first wave of freedoms denied, thinking that they were singular events that lived in their eco-sphere. We never came to the terms that this is a never-ending fight against tyranny with people who will never stop coming up with ideas on how we should live, and what we should do.
You heard it all. Cigarettes, cooking oils, saturated fat, and many others. The assault on our freedom to eat unhealthy food from fast food restaurants is not something new. They are once again shaping the arguments claiming we need warning labels on smartphones. We accept the premise and then argue back from there. This leads to the defeat of freedom when we don’t challenge their original notion put forth as axiomatic. It is through this foundational block that they build their house of cards. They declare something that is not fact, as a fact, and move on so quickly to the next steps and arguments of their demands, that we are always left at a disadvantage.
I, however, always go back to the primary building block or the genesis of their thought and see if their logic holds water. By doing this many times, I’ve unveiled the vacuousness of their ideas and the vast gulf between what they call fact and what fact is. They do it all the time. They tell you that poor neighborhoods are full of crime because they don’t have money. That there is a direct correlation between social economic status and crime. Like if I were to go bankrupt, I would suddenly start breaking into people’s homes in my neighborhood. That I wouldn’t find another way to deal with bankruptcy.
They never just admit there are simply bad neighborhoods and all the money in the world wouldn’t stop someone from carjacking if that person had the lack of moral makeup to do such a thing. They never address in their argument the fact that during the Great Depression, our country had record-low crime rates everywhere. If their thesis was true, would we not have had an orgy of crime during the Great Depression? No-no, facts be damned, we have good intentions.
The Surgeon General of the United States has asked Congress to require warning labels on Social Media platforms claiming that they have not been proven safe. Can you feel the Good Intentions Crowd nipping at your toes? Do you feel that Wokeness bubbling up around and in the air? Is Progressivism or Socialism lurking around the corner? Are leftists rolling their nonsense once again down the hill? Is the thought police turning its sirens on? Is the word police right behind them? Can you feel all of this coming towards you? Of course you do, the Democrat Party is in charge.
