The decline in trust within the context of 60 Minutes and its leftist political bent is a reflection of journalism losing its soul.  60 Minutes once stood as a gold standard of investigative journalism, a beacon of serious reporting that offered viewers in-depth coverage of complex topics. Over the years, the program established itself as a trusted source of information, featuring hard-hitting interviews, investigations into government and corporate malfeasance, and thorough explorations of global affairs. However, in recent years, the show’s alignment with left-leaning perspectives has raised concerns about its decline in gravitas.

This lack of trust has led to critiques from viewers who feel that the show no longer provides a balanced representation of political issues, contributing to the perception of a decline in its credibility and seriousness. The decline in gravitas on 60 Minutes as it leans toward a leftist political bent is emblematic of broader trends in journalism. The program’s shift toward a more ideologically driven narrative, combined with the pressures of modern media consumption, has diluted some of its former rigor and impartiality. I don’t trust anything related to CBS News, and neither do many others. Mike Wallace must be turning over in his grave on Martha’s Vineyard.
