The week before the Democrat Convention the Trump Campaign finally made some changes to the team. However, it was in the wrong direction. Corey Lewandowski from the 2016 campaign was brought on to help save Trump’s reelection prospects. This hire signaled that the message Trump was getting about how he was blowing the election, and what changes he needs to make, were rebuffed by Trump himself. Cory is famous for saying and authoring a book, “Let Trump Be Trump” but that is the problem. Letting Trump be Trump is not working this time.

Donald Trump has lost the solid lead he had over Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, according to every poll, closed the gap and or tied Trump. In some polls, Kamala started winning and pulling away. The problem was Nikki Haley’s admonition that the first political Party to drop their old man wins. Kamala was new and Trump is old on many levels. Donald was old because he was old. He is becoming confused and forgetful, not as bad as Joe, but it is there, nevertheless. Trump is telling the same old stories over and over again like old men do. The whole campaign seems tired and old.

Hiring Cory Lewandowski was a huge mistake, even if Kristi Noem and Hope Hicks might not think so. What Donald Trump needs now is Kellyanne Conway who took over in 2016 for Cory and brought Trump into the Oval Office. The weekend before the Democrat Convention brought with it a malaise that you could cut through with a knife in Republican circles. Not saying this out loud is not going to help in MAGA World. Realizing that Trump is destroying his chances of reelection with his old shtick is paramount.

Trump telling old stories that we all have heard over and over for years has become irritating to the people of the America First Movement. Now, MAGA folks, the red hat-wearing ones, will never take ownership of any of Donald Trump’s faults. To that crowd, the Messiah must not be questioned. For those of us on the Trump Bus for policy; we know Trump is headed for another loss unless he does a 180% turn and gives us something new. Nikki was right, this comes down to old and new. The presidency is decided by low-information voters who need some new circus act under the tent. The Republicans must feed the political simpletons some tasty new morsels. The stale meal of MAGA reboot will not suffice.
