January 28, 2025Trump’s First Week 2.0
Throughout his two presidencies, Trump’s commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and challenging the status quo was a defining characteristic of his time in office. By staying true to his word, Trump cultivated a loyal base of voters who appreciated his no-nonsense approach to governance. His “Promises Made; Promises Kept” slogan wasn’t just a campaign tagline; it was a principle he worked to turn into reality throughout his two terms as president. President Donald Trump had nothing short of a whirlwind in the first week. Here is an exhaustive list of what transpired in just the first week of Trump’s second term and CNN might have missed some.
Move to reinstate remain in Mexico program, reinstate enforcement of Hyde Amendment, unveiled $500 billion AI infrastructure investment, revoked transgender protections in agencies, place federal diversity employees on leave, reassigned at least 20 senior Department of Justice officials, sent additional troops to Southern Border, move to open more offshore drilling, suggested and eliminating FEMA, establishing Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), ousted commandant of Coast Guard, withdrawn from the Paris Climate Accord agreement, delayed ban on Tick Tock for 75 days, announce withdrawal from World Health Organization (WHO), commuted sentences of Proud Boys and Oath Keepers, used military aircraft to deport immigrants, made it easy to fire federal workers, call for recalling or renaming the Gulf of Mexico as Gulf of America, revoked security protections for former officials, lifted hold on heavy bomb deliveries to Israel, halted app for migrant asylum claims, surveyed Helene damage in North Carolina, halted Department of Justice police reform agreements, fired at least a dozen inspector generals, pause Federal leasing for wind farms, declared National Emergency at Southern Border, froze nearly all foreign aid for 90 days, band diversity programs in federal agencies, allowed migrant arrest in schools and churches, held call with Saudi Crown prince, threatened terrifying Canada and Mexico and China, enacted government-wide hiring freeze, declared National Emergency for energy, surveyed wildfire in California, reverse third gender option on passports, move to declassify RFK, JFK, and MLK Jr files, took aim at support for electric vehicles, pardon 1200 plus January 6th rioters, rename Mount Denali back to Mount McKinley, pardon nearly two dozen anti-abortion activist, canceled schedule flights for refugees, attempted to limit birthright citizenship, and declared the Mexican Cartels as terrorist group.
I am sure CNN and I missed some others. Donald Trump’s presidential campaign for 2024 was built on the promise of delivering real change to Washington, with a focus on keeping his word to the American people. His slogan, “Promises Made; Promises Kept,” was a catchy phrase and a guiding principle of his administration. Throughout his time in office, Trump worked to fulfill a number of the key pledges he made during his campaign, and many of those promises had tangible, lasting impacts on the nation. Now he is working on the second presidency and keeping his promises this time around. This overall view bears out looking back at Donald’s first week.
