Rigged: How the Media, Big Tech, and the Democrats Seized Our Elections by Mollie Hemingway is a deeply critical exploration of the 2020 U.S. presidential election, which examines the intersection of media, Big Tech, and Democratic Party strategies in influencing the election outcome. Hemingway, a conservative journalist and editor, offers a perspective that challenges the mainstream narrative surrounding the election, focusing on how these entities allegedly colluded to sway public perception and ensure the defeat of former President Donald Trump.
The central argument of Rigged is that the election was not “stolen” in the traditional sense of fraudulent ballots or tampered machines but was “rigged” by a powerful alliance of media organizations, technology companies, and political operatives. Hemingway contends that these groups worked together to manipulate information, censor dissenting voices, and create an environment where legitimate political discourse was stifled. She delves into how this alleged manipulation, particularly through platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and Google, as well as mainstream media outlets, had a significant impact on public opinion and ultimately the election results.
Hemingway highlights how Big Tech companies played a pivotal role in shaping the flow of information. She points to incidents such as the suppression of the Hunter Biden laptop story in the weeks leading up to the election, arguing that these actions were deliberate attempts to protect Joe Biden’s candidacy. According to Hemingway, platforms like Twitter and Facebook restricted the spread of the story, labeling it misinformation without adequate investigation. She suggests that this had a direct impact on voters’ perceptions of Biden, shielding him from scrutiny that could have altered the outcome of the election.
In addition to tech censorship, Hemingway critiques the mainstream media for their biased coverage of both Trump and Biden. She argues that throughout Trump’s presidency, the media consistently misrepresented or sensationalized events to cast Trump in a negative light. Conversely, she claims the media portrayed Biden in an overwhelmingly positive manner, often ignoring his gaffes or policy flaws. Hemingway suggests that this media bias created an uneven playing field, where Trump was constantly on the defensive while Biden was insulated from critical examination.
The book also explores the role of Democratic operatives in coordinating these efforts. Hemingway points to groups like the Center for Tech and Civic Life (CTCL), which received substantial donations from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, as instrumental in influencing the election process. She argues that these funds were funneled into key swing states and used to boost voter turnout in Democratic strongholds, effectively tipping the scales in Biden’s favor. Hemingway asserts that this type of financial intervention amounted to private individuals exerting undue influence over the election process.
Throughout Rigged, Hemingway presents a detailed account of how, in her view, the election was manipulated, not through overt fraud but through an intricate network of media manipulation, tech censorship, and political activism. The book appeals to those who believe that the 2020 election was unfairly influenced and seeks to offer an alternative narrative to the mainstream view. Hemingway’s work challenges readers to question the integrity of the media and technology platforms and their role in shaping the future of American democracy and none of that could be gauged by polls and pollsters in real time.
I’ll say it again, The Democrat Party wanted Joe Biden to win in 2020 and wanted him gone in 2024. The obedient press obeyed both times. Just like an attack dog, the press went after and tore Joe Biden apart in 2024. Once the dog had done its business, it was brought to heel and became docile, covering Kamala. In the past, these dog tricks were hidden from the public. After Trump, there is no more hiding anything. The doggy is openly in the window. Pennsylvania and others have already started their tricks.
