I sat there one day and I thought about what it would have been like for a Kansas, midwestern family to have one of their daughter’s rebel. I wondered what it would be like to get that phone call as your Kansan, midwestern daughter tells you she just got knocked up by a Kenyan, African nationalist and is moving to Indonesia to marry said, man. Then I thought about what it would be like if just by some sardonic bad joke that Kansan daughter would die at a young age and leave an older couple with a half Kansan and half African child. Can you imagine that very moment that the older couple held that child in their arms, looked down and said, here’s the next president of the United States?
