I have great respect for Andrew Sullivan and the gay community has no better friend than America Speaks Ink, but Andrew’s article about Obama and his long game was longer in the tooth. It has been interesting to watch Andrew and many other gays who called themselves conservative or republican slowly rise from their superimposed self identities. Twisting themselves in knots trying to fit into this box or that social label has left many Gay Republicans politically homeless as they watch gays in America slowly get their due.

The truth is Andrew has been no friend of the gay community because he supported a party and an ideology that would rather get their Log Cabin votes and then have them fade back into the dark shadows of The Castro District. However Andrew took another turn down a circuitous introspective declaration and now finds himself propping up Obama with revisionist history of his first term.

Every single claim Andrew made about any particular success Obama had, looked more like someone laying in a field of grass making shapes out of clouds. I’m sure if Andrew stares at the sky long enough, he could shape those clouds into some phallic looking image that he would claim is some sign meant directly for him. Most gays who surface from the conservative swamp came out more enlightened and more aware that both parties are the enemy of a free nation, let alone the gay community.

Being conservative is just as much as a part of gay person from the right, as their sexual orientation is a part of their make up. These particular gays I speak of could never find an ideological partner with the left, because most Log Cabin Types care more about finance than social issues. Andrew on the other hand jumps from one political bed to the other without any time for himself to sort out what happened to his beliefs.

It is very hard for straight and gay people to apperceive conservatism did not fail them, but rather the human vessels that carried that mantel did. Andrew should have realized something was up when the left so celebrated his article instead of the usual decrier that follows conservative gay writers. Andrew wrote some fanatical first term resume that I will not bother to debunk line by line. If one needed such an education from me, then they certainly can’t be one of my regular readers.

What has been so profound as of late is Andrew and most all the mainstream media has gotten everything so unbelievable wrong this election cycle. It is amazing how the media has not got anything right in this primary season, yet they have no self awareness of this and still expect people to listen to them. Andrew and his support for either the left or the right and who holds the reins at the time are beyond misplaced.

Too bad Fred Karger could not have caught Andrew further along on his journey of growth and had the voice, brilliance and support Andrew could have provided. Once again Andrew missed the boat and has come down on the wrong side of his own existence. After all President Barack Obama is completely against gay marriage. Maybe Andrew misunderstood that fact. We certainly know Mr. Sullivan has misunderstood a lot of things in politics lately. If Andrew is searching for a label, I have one that might fit. Maybe he is just suffering from political biophilia?
