Listen you lazy, good for nothing, won't work bums. For two years I have gotten up and went to work everyday. I did not lose my job because I am good at my job. The only reason you people were fired is because you were not worth keeping. Funny how in all your job places their are people still for at your companies but you. Your not because you did not do a good job. For two years you made the rest of us pay you not to work. It is sick and now you are all being cut off. Well-Well, I beat most of you will go get jobs now. You are all bums and pirates and maybe next time you people will take your jobs more serious and do a better job. If any of you would good at your jobs, you would have never been laid off. Go to Hell, all of you! Bums! Bums ! Bums!

Look @ your pay stubs & see all of the money you've put into unemployment. I can't say that I'm surprised about all of the "hustle & get a job" "the gov't isn't obligated to take care of you" nonsense I'm reading!!! As many have said throughout this post, you should be blessed that you still have employment. I'd take your job ANYDAY!! & you can then have my unemployment situation, maybe then you'll humble yourselves. We have been pilfered from...stripped of almost EVERYTHING by the people we've elected to out our trust in!!! & for the record, yes...there are people who abuse their benefits, but the majority of us don't! The alcoholics & druggies that receive ssi are the ones you should gear your anger & discontent towards...not the people of this country who have B.S., Masters, A.S. Degrees & aren't even considered for employment...or get to the interview only to find out they chose to go with a candid that has less experience because they can pay them less. People like myself are willing to take pay cuts, but no one cares...so thank whatever God you pray to that you're still able to provide for your family & pay your bills & have a home to still call your own...because that same God will strip you of everything to humble you.

Those who really are in need of unemployment should receive it. However there is no possible way of knowing who will use the money for things they need rather then what they want. So on one hand, i agree unemployment should not be given and on the other hand some actually need it for bills and such. We live in a twisted word my friends, get used to it.

Its a crying out loud shame that any one individual would say something of that nature. There are millions and millions of people struggling to make ends meet with or without unemployment benefits simply because they aren't given a chance. So without a job how can one support a family or receive the proper medical care for the children or themselves. Its not their fault obviously, being that the government got America into this mess. Now that its a "recession" because of careless decisions the former presidents made the Republican party wants to turn their backs on the needy. They still have their jobs. Maybe Obama shouldn't have bailed out some of the companys so everyone could feel the burn.

People are looking for anything they can get. (1) There are *no* jobs in many sectors of the economy and locales (at all). (2) Those who are taking part time or full time minimum wage work and are overqualified are (2a) preventing those of minimal qualifications or first-time-jobseekers from getting work (simply redistributing unemployment--see (1)), and (2b) the minimum wage job obligations are constraining their job search efforts. Right now people /are/ trying, but they're foraging in a desert and life is getting harder as bills mount, services are disconnected, and opportunity-destroying or -damaging economic losses accumulate.

For those of you who have a job that is keeping you economically stable (not necessarily happy--just stable), count your blessings right now. Both employers and employees are in their respective sets of economic dysfunctions in a currently downward spiral (that spiral being business-deprived employers can't hire employees who are also their customers).

Why aren't people taking anything they can get. Even if it is minimum wage, at least it is a job and people can say that they are trying.

Everyone will find difficult times in their life, it is applicable to country too. now USA is facing difficult times, so instead of crying, just we need to think and act to overcome the bad time. Country is constructed by individuals, so every individuals need to take the responsibility to lift the country (Atlast, please remember crying and fearing will not solve any problem)

Aw, c'mon, work harder, you have to lend a hand. You can do it!

People shouldn't be too surprised to find that Atlas is Shrugging.

I will admit it was a stupid political move, though. Surprised me big time!

What a spectacularly ill-reasoned column and what a pack of ignorant posters. The government-Wall Street cabal made this mess, and no amount of dole from them is going to solve it. The best thing that can happen is for their system to fail. Then and only then will this foolish nation wake up, throw the bums out, install a legitimate monetary system, and regain control of it's destiny at the individual level.

All of your dependents expressing shock that we don't just print another trillion dollars to drop out of Ben Bernacke's helicopter really need to wake up and wise up. Starting with C. Rich. Government got you and me into this mess and more government meddling will only make it worse. ALl these billions you're screaming for; where exactly do you think they come from?

This is when Americans need to unite most. The problem is truly the people in office and clearly this represents that sentiment. These are the addresses for this senator and I think all of us should bombard his office with letters of protest and disgust. In response to one of the replies, unemployment means that you do not have a job, it does not mean that you are self employed and still have some capacity of earning money. And for those of you who do not understand what is happening in this country, unemployment only pays a max. of $400-$500 weekly, depending on the state (no matter what your earning potential was before). And please do not tell me that unemployment is a scam, because if you know someone who is scamming the system, then you should report them, not stand idle and assume that the other one millions american citizens are also choosing unemployment over a job. In my case, I am an unemployed attorney (law graduate), having sought positions of ALL KINDS (b/c work is work) being told that I am overqualified most of the time, while the rest of the time told that I do NOT have enough experience (SERIOUSLY). Employers are afraid to hire for numerous reasons, in part because of stifled bank lending and possible costs of healthcare; however you have ONE man who feels that unemployment is a racket for those of us truly living from paycheck to paycheck by NO fault of our own. And unemployment does NOT discriminate it has hit the young/old, middle/working class, blue collar workers/professionals - YET people we have elected are so short-sighted to see that this is NOT a Republican / Democratic / Independent issue, rather it is an AMERICAN issue - where only those us who are NOT in power are truly affected...and it is apparent that Congress and this senator BUNNING have NO clue what is happening in America - perhaps their wealth blinds them to everyone else's reality. This is a spit in the face of every American who has worked hard to achieve the "so-called" American dream, has been laid off, with no benefits and then is told fend for yourself, all the while recognizing that there are NO to FEW jobs, with over 150 people competing for the same position. This is just another way republicans and democrats are trying to get at each other at the expense of those of us who would rather work, but need help to support our families. By the way be sure to write your letter of protest to: Washington DC, 316 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington, DC, 20510; phone number (202) 224-4343. OR District 4 - Ft. Wright (Main State Office) 1717 Dixie Highway #220, Ft. Wrigt Kentucky, 41011 OR go on his website: www.bunning.senate.gov.

And unemployment does NOT discriminate it has hit the young/old, middle/working class, blue collar workers/professionals – YET people we have elected are so short-sighted to see that this is NOT a Republican / Democratic / Independent issue, rather it is an AMERICAN issue – where only those us who are NOT in power are truly affected…and it is apparent that Congress and this senator BUNNING have NO clue what is happening in America – perhaps their wealth blinds them to everyone else’s reality. This is a spit in the face of every American who has worked hard to achieve the “so-called” American dream, has been laid off, with no benefits and then is told fend for yourself, all the while recognizing that there are NO to FEW jobs, with over 150 people competing for the same position. OR District 4 – Ft.
