Next year, the year 2011, the destruction begins. The first baby boomers hit 65. It starts the first year with 1.5 million and the year after 1.7 million hit retirement age. After that, the numbers explode. The baby boomers that will be collecting Social Security are the Pac-Man that will eat up the dots and the dots are us. The dots they will feed on is America itself. It is our future they will devour. It is the very survival of our nation that is at stake.
The arrival of the baby boomers upon our Social Security System represents the financial death of America in the twenty first century. There is no escaping the simple math of it. We simply will not have enough workers to support the boomers in retirement. Everyone knew this was coming. We just kept putting it off or ignoring it. We bathed in a putative denial and turned our collective heads to what was coming.
To this day, most Americans have no idea of the economic tsunami that is coming their way. Maybe we just didn’t want to face it. Perhaps we knew, but didn’t. They wouldn’t let us solve it. Any alarm bell rung up to now, just fell silent on a “live in the moment” populace. However the moment of today will crumble to the weight of tomorrow and all will be lost.
The sad part of what I’m saying here is not up for debate. Sadly there is not a chance I can be wrong on this. Only the inadvertent truth of mathematics will be the language of America’s future. Effusively we won’t even be able to borrow the money to get through this long stretch. You see, the boomers left us with a 14 trillion dollar plus debt the year before this was to come.
This generation simply destroyed any chance we could have had to handle this as a nation. Their very own destructive path has lead to a situation where we will not be able to make the promise of Social Security to this selfish generation. They were the first generation in the history of America not to hand over a better America to the next generation. What they handed us was an impossible financial situation that not even Solomon could figure a way out of. We can’t split the baby here.
Let me break this down to something very simple that everyone can understand. How does America, who is broke and in 14 trillion dollars of debt, now pay for all the baby boomers to receive Social Security? If you can answer that question, you will go down in history as the person who saved The United States of America. You will also go down in history as the person who could bend the laws of mathematics. Just run the numbers. Don’t listen to me; just go get your calculators.
The baby boomers will no longer be able to hide behind their very own self-glorification. All the aspirations of the sixties will not hold weight to the generations crushed under their feet. No self-aggrandize narrative will amount to a hill of beans when we drown in the ocean of failure left behind.

I will not live in the street, I will just load my 12 gauge & take all my money. If I go to jail I guess my wife can go on welfare. No I am a Bronx boy & nobody takes what is mine. I was forced like everyone else to contribute to this progressive scam & now people are saying screw us & not give us the checks until we die. I live by one motto do not screw with me. I do not need anger management classes because if I am left alone I would not be angry at anybody, it is when people come after me or my family that I get extremely upset & will take anybody out to survive. Growing up in the south Bronx in the 60′s I learned that if I did not protect myself I would not survive. I had to take people out to survive & that is the difference between me & you. I have done it & can pull a trigger can you do the same.
I say, if the boomers get the checks — they should have to wear stripes and work a chain gang during the month picking up garbage on the side of the road. At least make them earn it. Saying I paid into it my whole life means I deserve to be supported by everyone else even after the money I put in it runs out is criminal. Treat them like criminals and make them wear the stripes. That way we know who they are.
We have paid all our working lives and had we been the ones investing this money we would be better off. I would love to see some of these GenX whiners living off under a thousand a month. redneck36 do you even know what your taking about, my father died when he was 63 never made it to retirement & when my mother retired she could only receive 1 check. They both worked for over 45 years & neither one ever got close to what they contributed. Your benefits are determined based on what you contributed over the years you worked & unless I live to the ripe age of 100 I will never get what I contributed to the plan.

don’t forget Lyndon Johnson ( demorat) took SS and put the money in the general fund. Jimmah Carter ( a demorat) put immigrants into the system to collect at 65 even though they paid NOTHING into the system. Al Gore (a demorat) voted in a tie-breaker to tax benefits. Clinton (a demorat) took billions from SS to balance the budget.
Show any politician a surplus in any fund and they go nuts to get the money. If SS funds were left alone and not shoveled out like candy on holloween, the system would survive with some modification. Looting the fund will not work.

redneck, I am 2 years ahead of the boomers and I know there will be a problem. I knew it years ago when the boomers had kids, we built schools. When the boomers needed money, interest rates went nuts. The boomers are such a large portion of society they sway the whole country. Wait till they need their retirement money, the stock market will drop like a rock.
The US government has to get fiscal responsibilty and get rid of the idea we have to save the world. Obama wants to give 900 million to Palestine after Israel bombed them because they bombed Israel. The madness has to stop. Honesty in government and the federal reserve has to surface. The Justice Department has to get some balls and go after the crooks that are robbing the treasury, be it wall street or financial institutions. I will give up a percentage of my SS and donate time to my community to help out, but it has to start at the top.
Let’s face facts, in order to get our finances in order with regards to Social Security and Medicare we will need to means test. If you are wealthy enough you don’t get social security. That’s all there is to it. The protests are so obvious… “But I earned that money!” “Why should some jerk who didn’t work as hard as me get my money!” The answer is that all Americans owe part of their success to the country itself, to the protection of the military, to the roads and infrastructure, to the schools, to the technology, to the safety. Those who have done well should be happy they have the money to help the less fortunate. This is what it really means to be a patriot and love your fellow countrymen. As my father used to say, “I am very lucky that I have to worry about paying a lot in taxes.”

What Greg says doesn’t make sense either because if all those people were still alive and not aborted, the lack of jobs would be even more problematic.
I personally do not like abortion, but can you imagine if all those people were added to the unemployment burden today? It’s already becoming a living hell.
I think the only way for the economy to survive is to cut spending for war, but that will never happen because war makes money for the ultra-rich.
That’s about the bottom line of it all.
All this whining is coming from a generation that knows nothing but gimme and insisted that mom and dad boomer buy them their $150 sneakers. Everyone of them EXPECTED a new Camaro for their 16th birthday and went into meltdown if they didn’t get it. IMHO if we hadn’t wasted our earned income catering to these whiners giving them “everything that we didn’t have” then we wouldn’t need social security. But, That’s just my thoughts on the matter.
