I watched both episodes of that new TV show that premiered after The Superbowl called Undercover Boss. What a cool concept for a reality show. If you don’t know, CEOs of major companies go undercover at entry level jobs in their own companies and get down and dirty with the little people.

The first one I saw was with the CEO of Waste Management and the second one was the president of Hooters. Watching these CEOs learn the most basic things about their own companies is fascinating. Each boss goes through the grind of the everyday lives of their employees. They uncover screw ups and heroes alike in their workforce and it is interesting to see how they handle both kinds of people, when they finally reveal themselves at the end.

undercover2What I noticed while watching the show, was that the president of Hooters should in no way be a CEO of a hot dog stand. It was so shocking to see how ill-equipped that man is to run such a large company. Whatever his motives were to do this, I feel he did the company and his dead father a disservice by putting this on TV.

He came across a restaurant manger of Hooters who was so blazingly demeaning to his waitresses, that the guy should have been arrested or at least  fired. In the end, the President of Hooters just asked the guy to say he was sorry. It was shocking to see how weak he was as an executive. His father started the company and after the old man passed, the son has been clearly destroying everything this daddy built.

This saddened me, because I love Hooters and have been a customer forever. This guy was going around the whole company trying to find out what was wrong and why the company was tanking the last few months. He was completely blind to the fact; it was him that was the problem.

As a lover of Hooter wings and all the beautiful waitresses, I hope for my sake this man steps down. He is clueless in so many ways and he is putting my favorite wing place in jeopardy. Rumors around where I live is the Hooters in our town is struggling and because of this impending tragedy, I have done my part and made sure I get there every week to spend money. Life without Hooters, would not me much of a life at all. I beg every red-blooded American to get down to their local Hooters and spend some money.

The guy at the top never even wanted the job when he got it. He gave the impression that it was some kind of annoyance for his father to die and leave him with this billion-dollar company. It was a site to behold. You guys go get some wings and let us hope this man just steps aside or let somebody with the right energy and passion run it and  turn it around.

Maybe they should hire the CEO of Waste Management. Now that was an executive I wouldn’t mind working for him. That was an executive with a spine and passion to boot.
