Gays in the military are closer than they have ever been to obtaining equality in the armed services. For the first time, leaders of the military have spoken out publicly in favor of striking down this discrimination brought to them by the hands of Bill Clinton.
The Democrat Party handed down one of the most unfair social laws upon gays in American History. A recent poll stated that nearly 70 % of Americans said this law is discriminating. Now a Democrat President is poised to correct this abomination.
Really it was just a generational thing. The Baby Boomer generation was the force that kept fighting gay rights. They, in complete hypocritical posture, did not want to include gays in their peace, love and happiness mantra. The younger generation thought they would have to wait for these hypocrites to die before gays would see equality in the military. However the changing tides would not wait for boomers to drift into eternity.
To think that some woman is over in Iraq putting her life on the line for her country and is thrown out of the military because of cunnilingus, defies all logic. The military owes all these people who have been thrown out an apology in the form of a check and immediate reinstatement.
This dark time in the civil rights movement is drawing to an end. The only thing left for Americans to do is to decide what group we persecute next. I vote for Wall Street Bankers.

C. Rich clearly is not gay stainlesssteel. Straight people also care about human rights issues. Rich rails about a lot of different stuff. He is also pro-life and writes a lot about that.The blasts left and right equally which is why he has a huge following. These comments are ridiculous.Can we stay on topic here? This law should never be changed. We can’t have gay people openly jumping each others bones in a foxhole. Most of these men are straight and have to take showers with these gays. It would be hard to even shower with gay men around with erections staring at them. No way this law should be change. The Army is not a bathhouse.

It is still law people. All we have is talk here. That is all the government does. They better rescind this law but for now it is all talk. That is all Obama does, he just talks.
What seems clear to me is that most people love gays and think this law is wrong. I have a gay family member and I see these things and how offensive it all this.

C. Rich, thank you for this piece. I, as a gay woman, really appreciate it. My sexual orientation is part of who I am, it is not all that I am, to have a law that seems to suggest otherwise and that I am incapable of doing what is effectively my job (which is what DADT is doing for all gay service members) is downright discriminatory in my book.
I don’t write here asking everyone who has something against the LGBT community to change their minds and wave the rainbow flag, but I do ask you to do something else. Accept difference. I am different to you and I don’t agree with you, but I do accept that you, as long as you’re not hurting anyone by doing it, should be allowed to live your life with those lives and how you wish. All I ask is for the same in return.
