As for my last comment, I would like to share the latest news with you:

“Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger plans to save $1.6 billion in state employee costs by extending monthly furloughs past June, laying off staff or shifting general fund workers into state jobs financed by other revenues, according to sources familiar with the governor’s forthcoming budget proposal.”

Even government jobs are not safe anymore. My best guess is that the unions will protect government job payscale to the bitter end, so he will have no choice but to do lay offs.

C. Rich, how do we wake these people up? I know someone on facebook who has tried doing so and they don’t listen; at this point he thinks they deserve this to happen. That sounds harsh, but for example, today I tried talking to a family member and they shut me out screaming “if it’s about the economy, I don’t want to know!”

Wanted to add something about government jobs.

Aren’t they supported by tax payers? Less tax revenues due to less people working means less money for government jobs and less money for government pensions.

And people on unemployment generally choose not to have money taken out of their meager unemployment cheques. Would you if your unemployment cheques were only a few hundred a week and your car payment alone is more than $300.00? Of course not.

Truth is, the people who still have jobs that they think are secure, like government jobs, they are putting this truth out of their minds; they think they are safe.

It is beyond my understanding how people cannot put one and one together and figure out the basic math.

Eventually, state/gov. jobs will also be affected. Here in California they will be laying off gov. employees if the unions do not comply with proposed pay cuts and so forth. The unions are living in a dream world as well.

I cannot figure out this disconnect from Reality. It’s amazing.

I agree with Wendy, this is so in your face. They are turning this into a third world country. People need to spread the word that this website speaks for us on so many things. The writer here is top notch. He should be in the times but as far as the bloggers go, I don’t know anyone who covers so many things like this guy.All you have to do is spend hours reading this site and you’ll know what I mean. My wife found this guy and we love him.
