As President Obama makes his first State of the Union Speech one can’t help but wonder about the president’s disconnect. Poll results are pushing Obama all over the map and making him change the very core of who was to be.
The White House claims that Obama is not changing anything, but clearly that is an untruth. The press is nearly begging him to do a Clinton, change course and run to the middle. Now we hear the president is going to propose a spending freeze on domestic spending. Normally that would sound like a responsible thing to do with the growing debt. However, it seems once again disconnected to any reality I can reach for.
It is hard to make an argument that cutting two hundred and fifty billion dollars of domestic spending, while at the same time bleeding us dry with two wars and all the money spent on foreign aid. I think most Americans would rather you cut all the money we are spending in Iraq, Afghanistan and all the other countries we give billions of dollars to. Before you start denying Americans of government services, how about investing in America?
Somehow we can go bankrupt by trying to rebuild the whole world, while we sit back here in America with thirty five million people out of work. The so-called “reset button” in Obama’s world means cut back on spending on us here in America and shower Muslim countries with all of our hard earned money? This way of thinking is so out of whack, I find that this disconnect between the president and the people to be a direct assault on the survival of the middle class.
In my mind, don’t even start thinking about cutting money Americans can benefit from until all this money going overseas comes to an end. Instead of a giant public works program rebuilding roads, bridges and the electrical grid here in America, we are building up other countries with our money. How nuts is that? People, we need to invest in America for once. How about a two-year “freeze” on foreign aid and war spending and let America get on its feet once again?
This constant comparison of Obama and every other administration is spurious and needs to stop. 2010 is a whole new ball game and these political comparisons are not apropos, no matter how many political science degrees you have.
The state of our union is this: “We are in big trouble” period, end of story. Things are not looking too good, Mr. President, and you just wasted a whole year trying to force mandatory health insurance down poor people’s throats. While the country was suffering and people were losing their jobs, homes and retirements, you spent your first year trying to make it law that everyone has to buy health insurance. I’m sure the health insurance companies enjoyed this last year.
However, the state of the rest of the union has seen an escalation of tent cities of homeless people across the country. If an aerial camera shot over rivers in California and the capital of Haiti look the same with tent cities popping up, at what point does your delusion hit the buzz saw of our reality?

This speech is all talk. That is all this president does is talk. He words never match his actions. Who even believes him anymore?
This president turned his back on the people the minute he sided with Wall Street !
I’m not going to watch the speech. The man turns my stomach when I hear him speak anymore. He sold us out !
No. You folks need to watch.
WE NEED to feel stomachs turn.
WE NEED to see what happens with this country.

dont stop being involved.
WE have to keep an eye on this man as much as possible.
Lack of knowledge is what got us to this point. We let the sheep people vote him in to watch a black man get inaugurated.
How about stopping all American U.N. funding? it’s a good start as any…
James you sound like a sheep to me.
This president refuses to lead
Crich I have read your site for over a year and I keep telling people about this site. You really hit a home run with this and your writing is among the best in the media.
You always say it so strongly. I agree with this 100% ! We need to invest in America before there is nothing to invest in ! Keep up the heat CRich ! You speak for all of us !
C. Rich you are my favorite blogger. I’ll be watching this speech tonight but all this man does is talk. He is not a leader. He should have never been president. I’m partly to blame. I was so sick of Bush and McCain was too old for the job. I never thought it would get this bad. I would have never guesses the first black president would side with Wall Street and not the people.
I voted for him too but now I have no job. I had a job under Bush.
I had a home under Bush !
I am 98 years old and never thought I’d see this country in this shape again.
This man C Rich says what everyone feels. Just read what is going on here.
Great site I will put more of your articles in the future here:

Thank you thecomingdepression we all got to do our part and help shine light on what is happening. I can’t sleep some nights just watching it all slip away. I ponder whether we have passed the tipping point. It all seems so surreal, so orchestrated.
There are still too many Americans who are comfortable in their little “realities,” that is why things aren’t changing fast enough.
We are dealing with evil people (most banksters and politicians) and you cannot play “fair” with these types. We have to take a strong stand.
