As we all know and have surmised by now is that America is not doing great right now. As far as being the great country who’s manufacturing capabilities where were second to none in some areas. America, a few years back, had plenty of jobs to go around. Now, with the economy in shambles people have reduced their spending. That equates to an eventual reduction in producing consumer goods. Overall it means a cut in jobs across the board. We are a hurting nation.
Out of approximately 150 million workers in this country ten percent of them are now out of a job. As incredible as that number sounds the unemployment rate is expected to rise. I was part of the 9 percent out of work a few weeks ago. However, I swallowed some pride and am now flipping burgers and doing a little mopping, but I am doing what it takes to get by. For every job opening right now there are 6 or seven applicants. There are simply not enough positions available and too many working Joes and Josephines vying for those spots.
America’s debt is also huge. Have you seen the latest figure of what we owe China? My gosh, it is over 750 billion! That is a staggering amount to owe, much less to one country. I hate the way that China keeps it currency valued low. That makes the goods they export rather cheap, but we are fooled by this if we think we are getting deals. Remember, they make their goods cheaply so they don’t have a large overhead. It really devalues our dollar when we are weak and they are strong. We are digging a hole and it will be really difficult to get ourselves out if it gets any deeper. We should not have given B. Hussein Obama a shovel in electing him to office. I see nothing but regret in the future.
A lot of what this country owes goes to the hard work of immigrants in making what was once a land of milk and honey. People from other countries wanted to come here and achieve their dream. The American dream. No other country in the world offers the American dream. It can only be achieved in America and it even garnered people to cross our borders illegally just to get a shot at obtaining a better life. America doesn’t look so good now. Why come to a place where jobs are scarce, homes are being taken away, and companies are folding left and right?
With a certain level of shame we are now a not-so-good country to relocate to, but I tell you what. To me it is still the greatest country in the world with the mightiest military that will help countries more than we will hurt them. That is all we are doing in Iraq and Afghanistan right? Just helping these countries get a foothold on this globe. We will leave those areas soon enough and return our soldiers to where they belong. To those who are wishing to come here and try to eek out a better existence, you might want to delay those plans until America can get through this current presidency and right itself. Until then, stay put.
