I remember last spring when the news of this virus that once killed tens of millions of people was going to come back this winter and nail us. They told us that the government would be ready by the end of October with vaccines for most of us to fight this pandemic. Now here we are at the end of October and things are not looking good.
They are millions of doses short of their stated goal and there rages a debate among medical people whether or not to take this vaccine at all. I’ve personally watched on TV a doctor say take it, while another doctors sits next to him and says don’t. For those of us who have been watching and following what to do this whole year, it seems like a mess. Who do we trust and what do we do?
When I hear of some deadly virus killing people across the globe and I’m told to just wash my hands, I think of being told to duct tape my doors and windows in case of a biological or chemical attack. It is frightening how inept our federal government is when it comes to giving advice. All the hand washing in the world is not going to stop some virus from destroying my respiratory system if I come in contact with it.
There isn’t enough vaccine available in my town and all that is coming is the nasal one, which releases a live virus in me instead of the shot, which gives us a dead virus to fight this. The whole concept of a live virus vs. a dead virus or nasal vaccine vs. injection is head spinning. I’m a pretty bright guy and have followed this from the beginning, but can’t wrap my mind around what is the right thing to do for my family and me. I’ll probably just lean towards taking what ever vaccine in what ever form I can get my hands on but by the time it gets here, will it be too late?
I think it must be said here, that this thing has been handled so wrong. If they could have just handed out the proper vaccine like they handed out dollars to Wall Street, we could have had a health bailout instead. I guess they just couldn’t grow the vaccine out of thin air. Only money comes from that place.
