If you truly want to receive an authentic scare then go see Paranormal Activity. However, I challenge you to try not to be scared as I did. Go into it expecting ghost-like things to happen, because it won’t help. You are still going to be very, very scared. So scared it will follow you all the way home and into your dreams. I am not kidding.

Having been a scary movie fan most of all my life, I had thought that all my experience to horror had desensitized my ability to be scared. Little did I know how wrong I was. This isn’t an ordinary Hollywood type movie. This is a home video type of film and right away your brain is convinced that what is about to happen is real. This movie is about a young couple documenting their move into a new house. It seems harmless at first and purposely so. The filmmakers want you to feel at ease.

para2When the new occupants are settled in, they start having weird things happen and of course, at night. They start to videotape these events and that is when the neck-tingling starts. The sense of realism of what is happening to this young couple is magnified by the home video aspect. To me, there is nothing more scarier than encounters with real ghosts, but you quickly realize that these are not just ghosts. As the events unfold you realize it is something more evil. The realness to that is enough to make some walk out with natural fear. And they did. Truly scared people walked out of the theatre with unmistakable terror on their faces.

That did it for me and I started shifting in my seat nervously. The worst was yet to come because as I watched, it got more frightening and the jaw-dropping ending will for sure be cemented in your mind all they way home and I’ll guarantee you’ll still be thinking about Paranormal Activity while you lie in your bed, unable to fall asleep. This movie is a ride into real terror. A ride you cannot prepare for, no matter how macho you think you are. The realism grabs you and shakes the reason and logic you possess to its core and leave you unable to control your faculties.

Go see Paranormal Activity and prepare all you can. You will be toughly shaken and scared.
