Now there is a question for you. Can you just feel your emotions being tugged at? We all are aware of the spectacle of this case from the past and the circus to come. In all of this surrounding his ordeal, what stood out for me was the divide between the left and the right, when it came to people’s opinions on what should happen to this Academy Award winner.

It caught me off guard that the subject of child rape would have some difference of opinion with people on the right or left. Then I remembered the ACORN thing about an underage San Salvadorian whorehouse and the thought of tax breaks for such a thing. There really is, on certain issues, a vast gulf between liberalism and conservatism on certain things. Watching the former Mayor of San Francisco on TV voraciously defend Polanski’s right to walk on this legal problem was all I needed to realize how different those liberals really are. Not that this axiom ever eluded me.

To defend a man who, when in his forties, drugged and raped a thirteen-year-old girl and I mean raped. We’re talking not only vaginal rape but the rape of that little girl’s other hole, is stunning. The acts of evil he perpetrated on that child are breathtaking. To watch Willie Brown protect this monster and say, well the girl who is a woman now forgives him, is immoderate. Of course he never mentioned the big check she cashed in a civil law suit and the role of that in her forgiveness. The truth is who cares, that is not relevant. Even if she didn’t take the money and forgave him through Christian values, it doesn’t matter. The man took off and lived the life of a superstar in France.

I have no doubt that when all is said and done this man is going to prison. I just wonder whether he will be raped while there and whether that Yin and Yang thing really has a place in something like this. Let’s not forget the pure hypocrisy that he made a movie about a woman being raped by a government guy with Sigourney Weaver as the star. The movie was called “Death And The Maiden” and in hindsight he was exercising some demons with that film.

I can’t help but wonder why people in Hollywood wanted to work for this guy. However, here we circle back to the difference between people of one ideology and another. His lawyer is saying Roman is in fighting mode. I guess he is like a rape victim in fighting mode. Maybe someone should just give him a Quaalude and he’ll slowly calm down.
