It never ceases to amaze me how backwards this country is when it comes to sex. In so many ways it is like we are living in the Stone Age and have never evolved from our infancy and understanding of human sexual behavior.
In this arena, this is where I part from conservatives, my church and any other entity that seeks to criminalize the most basic of human nature. In this arena of ideas I lean towards my inherent libertarian nature and push back with this nonsense.
I read a dozen different papers everyday online. I pull up my local paper and see that a forty-one year old man just was sentenced to seven years in a Florida penitentiary for arranging a tryst for his teenage son. The father set up a hotel room where his son could have sex with an older woman as a gift. Now this poor slob has to go to prison for nearly a decade for trying to get his 15-year-old son laid.
I don’t know what planet people are on, but I am sick and tired of people making believe there is no difference between a boy and a girl. We constantly juxtapose young men and their Mrs. Robinson’s moment to some sick rape of a young woman. Folks, there is a difference and making believe that young adults should be treated equal in this regard is completely disingenuous and lacks a compass of common sense.
All these stories about beautiful teachers getting arrested for having sex with some high school boy is outrageous to me. God, I would have loved to have had sex with at least two of my former teachers and I wouldn’t have been harmed for God’s sake. It would have been special, but a crime? Come on.
It was commonplace and a right of passage when I grew up to have a father set something up for his son. That is the truth and this insidious criminalization of this father and son moment is just wrong. Now the guy will no doubt be put on that “sexual devastator” list and have the rest of his life destroyed when he walks out of prison seven years from now. Don’t even get me started on that fallacious list and all the people who are put on it, who don’t deserve to be.
It is like this. America is at war with sex and as broke as we are financially, the government still finds time to fill up the prisons with all these souls who shouldn’t be there. Freedom in this country is random for most and nonexistent for a lot of us. I’d like to know the sexual history of the prosecutor that tried that case and the judge who slayed out that sentence. With all the different laws against an array of sexual activities or behaviors, I bet a dollar to a donut, if you peeked behind their curtains you’d see some so-called crime.
