Now that is not a phrase one sees in the same sentence too often. Are these two views compatible? Can someone who is pro-life also be pro-gay marriage and be consistent? Well if they can’t separate two things that have a religious root to them, the Republican Party is done. The people, whom are pro-life and have respect for life, don’t have to carry their views of abortion over to the subject of gay marriage.
For the most part, people overwhelmingly don’t want gay people to be discriminated against in the name of religion or anything else. At the same time there will never be an evolution of the right to life movement to be more tolerate in killing babies. It is possible to support the right to life and at the same time, fight for the rights for gay people to live in peace.
A lot of us have gay friends and family and see what a terrible injustice it is to deny these souls the right to lead a normal life and get married. However, far too many times through the teachings of churches and other right to life forums, people are lumped in with the two groups of thought, like they are synonymous. They are told both issues need to be the same and fought against. Fighting abortion and also denying people their civil rights are contrary to what is right.
The churches that are teaching this are some how so far from the true teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, who by the way, taught love for one another and never uttered a recorded word against homosexuality. These churches are actually having the reverse affect and are chasing souls away from Christ. I assure you, that was not the plan of that two thousand year old Rabbi.
There has to be separations of these two issues where people can love gay people and let them marry and also stand firm on an anti-abortion stance. What is more conservative than letting people get married? How can conservatives be against marriage of all things? It is not intellectually honest and it must end. At the same time American woman using the act of abortion has a form of birth control is abhorrent.
I don’t want to hear that age-old argument about incest and rape. These two extremes make up less than one percent of the abortions in the last few decades. It is birth control for woman and nothing less than that. It is not too much to ask the ladies of America to use an earlier form of birth control. Waiting to make a birth control decisions until they are pregnant is completely irresponsible and against the Constitution and the right to life. If you can’t understand that, than we need to educate that next generation of American women on other views of birth control.
We have killed way to many babies and that is that. This kind of thing echoes in Heaven and makes God stand at attention and notice. It is a national shame. At the same time running gay people away from marriage and a normal life is also wrong and in no way Christian. It certainly in not in the spirit of being American, Conservative or fair to freedom itself. It is time for the Republican Party to get out of this hypocrisy and join the modern nations of the whole world. We must stop this backwards thinking and make some intelligent distinctions here. If the Republican Party keeps pigeonholing people into micro sub groups, there will be no one left to stop the Democrats into spending us into bankruptcy.
Here’s my solution. Let gay people marry and instead of abortions give the babies to these newly married couples. There, problem solved. Can we move on now into the twenty-first century? Would you rather have straight couples murdering babies in the wombs of American woman or married gay people who are not killing anyone? Solomon is not needed here. Only a little common sense and some forward thinking is required at this juncture.
