On the March 29th episode of Meet The Press, former Republican presidential candidate John McCain was asked if Sarah Palin was to run for president next time whether he would support her. Without out standing on his seat and yelling, “Hell No!” McCain said everything he could to dance around that answer and said he’d have to see the others that would be running. He never even came close to backing her for it.
It wasn’t too long ago he wanted all of us to support the idea that she would be a heartbeat away from the presidency. He spent most of his time after naming her, trying to convince the country she was qualified but now apparently, he is not so sure. This reminded me of the other times this has happened. McCain is not the only politician that shed their love for the VP candidate that was running with them.
I remember how Gore did Lieberman back then, and for me, that was the point where I stopped respecting even the littlest thing about Al Gore. It just rubbed me wrong and made me feel that yucky feeling one gets when we think of the sliminess of politicians.
It is amazing to watch former presidential tickets that split and go their own ways when the party is over. I think this lack of loyalty at its core, is something regular people can understand. Betrayal is not class specific but spreads throughout humanity. So when it is done on a grand scale, people take notice.
Listen to me Senator McCain, Sarah was the only reason I supported another old white guy. Shame on you, Sir. Sarah deserves better. Maybe your hypocrisy should be called out on the carpet. Your effete political career now swims in a pond with those other superstars of loyalty like Al Gore and John Kerry. Enjoy the company, Sir.
