HBO has done a stellar job on a movie they put together called Taking Chance. The movie, for the first time, gives Americans an inside look at what happens to our fallen soldiers when their casket comes home. It is a riveting and tear jerking account of the process that every one of our fallen heroes goes through when they come home in a steel body bag.
Regardless of your political views on the wars, Taking Chance is something that every American should be required to watch. Kevin Bacon puts in the performance of a lifetime and should be recognized for his brilliance. He plays a Marine officer who volunteers to escort the remains of a Marine PFC, who came from his hometown, throughout the entire trip all the way to turning over the body to the parents and family.
This is one of the most powerful movies I’ve ever seen. This movie underscores the dignity and honor we give our fallen. It is an incredible hour and a half. If you truly love your country and the people that make up America, you must go out of your way and see this film. If you don’t have HBO than find someone who does and make an unstoppable effort to see this film. It is the least we can do.
Never before has the Military let us see the process of what happens when their fallen come home. For the first time, the Marine Corp. worked with HBO all the way to the end to make sure they got it right, all the way down to the littlest detail. Taking Chance is the most dignified film I’ve seen in a long time and words cannot shape my true feelings for this picture. I am more informed and a better American now that I’ve seen this film. The people who prepare our dead for their final resting place are the most unsung heroes America has ever produced. They care for our fallen, all the way down to how they clean the soldiers fingernails. These people are angels among us and I am so honored to have been enlightened by this film. Please go see this movie. Run, don’t walk.
