CNBC landed the first in-depth interview with President Elect Barack Obama since the general election in November. This was the most detailed interview we’ve seen with Barack in quite some time. The interview covered everything from the economic slide to his opinions on a college football playoff scenario. Barack was very measured with his answers and one gets a sense that he thinks everything out to such a degree, you’re left wondering if he ever has a knee jerk reaction to anything at all. Some people just think things out too much and have no gut instincts that govern them. A huge departure from our out-going president.

He discussed the battle he is going through with the secret service and legal council on trying to hold on to his Blackberry. When one becomes President, you have to give up E-mail, Blackberries, and computers altogether. He spoke about how he feels that this kind of alienation creates a disconnect between the President and the people on the streets of America. He described  an ordeal when he and his family were on vacation; how just taking the kids to get some shaved ice, became this big ordeal with secret service.

Watching all of the living Presidents take that historic photo reminds us that there is only five men walking the Earth today that has had this job. What a very small club there. Only those four other men can possibly understand what Obama is about to get into. We just know what they look like physically when they are done, how much older and run down they look.

The photo really brings home the historical difference here watching him stand there next to all those old white man. His race, his age, and everything about it reeks change. Something different. One can just feel the hopes and dreams of an entire generation and race hanging on his shoulders. Newt Gingrich made the statement that one would have to be irrational to not wish for his success with the trouble America is in today. I feel a sense of what Newt is saying, however, if Barack makes a turn to the left in his governing that is too extreme, he will lose that “well wishing” from us rational people.
